IBSAR is staffed by permanent
faculty members and research associates
who are committed to explore and develop
biodiversity related economic opportunities
through multidisciplinary research
activities. |

The
Center is managed by a Director and
three Committees whose members are
appointed by election: Executive Committee,
Research Committee and Outreach Committee.
Committee members are elected by
IBSAR
voting members. Members of the Executive
Committee, in turn, elect a Director
from amongst them and recommend his/her
appointment to the Provost. The Provost
then appoints the Director. The Director
of IBSAR shall serve as Chairperson
of the IBSAR Executive Committee.

The
Executive Committee is responsible
for coordinating the work of IBSAR
and its committees. The objectives
of the Committee are to review all
matters pertaining to IBSAR; define
and forward the flow of IBSAR
operations to the appropriate committees
for action/recommendation(s); streamline
resources to promote research activities;
organize the process of nominating
members to participate in specific
IBSAR activities,
review applications for membership;
prepare the agenda for all IBSAR
activities; review final reports issued
by IBSAR members;
manage budgetary matters related to
IBSAR activities
and management; and initiate and supervise
fund raising activities. |

Advisory
Board: |

The Advisory
Board is composed of external members from
various academic and professional backgrounds
that provide IBSAR with critical information and
feedback once a year at roundtable discussions.
During these meetings, the Board meets with all
three Committees, faculty, Research Assistants
and students to discuss strategic direction,
activities and fundraising matters. The external
revue process conducted by the Board includes
meetings with the President and Provost. The
Advisory Board elects a Chair held for two
years. The current Chair of the Board is Dr.

Research & Patent
Committee (Dr. Rabih Talhouk– Chair AND contact member in charge):

The Research and Patent Committee includes at least one member from each of
IBSAR's research groups. The objectives of this Committee are to cultivate and streamline research activities that can lead to patentable innovations, to review manuscripts of articles intended for peer review and publication in scientific journals and to review research grant proposals. |

Outreach Committee |
 |
The Outreach Committee is responsible for the promotion of
IBSAR, its image and its message. It constitutes
IBSAR's interface with the community, be it within AUB or at the national or international levels. The Outreach Committee accomplishes its goals through
IBSAR publications, workshops and seminars, and other creative and innovative ways such as debates, TV spots, an interactive website, displays and demonstration areas. |
